The Regional Council is reviewing its Fees and Charges Policy to keep pace with legislative changes and rising service delivery costs.

The proposed changes help ensure fair cost recovery, while continuing to fund environmental monitoring and protection across the region. If adopted, these updates will take effect from 1 July 2026.

What’s changing?

  • Updated compliance monitoring charges and fixed fees
  • Increase in Port Charges (Harbour dues)
  • New category for PC10 Lake Rotorua Nutrient Management Variation deposits
  • Flat mileage rate of $1.17 per km
  • General CPI based increase to most fixed charges to keep up with inflation.

A separate consultation document (Statement of Proposal) has been prepared for Fees and Charges, as is legislatively required.
